Eyecheck Pupillometry

Eyecheck Pupillometer for Drugs Alcohol and Fatigue
Accurate detection of drugs and alcohol through physical impairment. When our eyes are subjected to bright lights the pupil automatically closes down; this is the basis of a police flashlight-in-the-eyes test. Everyone's eyes behave in the same way, and amazingly at the same speed. When the body is under the influence of drugs, alcohol or fatigue, this involuntary reaction changes depending on the substance. This is what the Eyecheck measures. The Eyecheck will differentiate between many kinds of drug, alcohol and fatigue. The first test of its kind. Non-invasive, and no-cost screening once the machimne is paid for.

Description
What is the Eyecheck Pupillometer?
Eyecheck is a small optical device that measures drug abuse, alcohol consumption, or fatigue levels.

What is so special about it?
Pupillometry is the only method guaranteed to relate directly to impairment. This is essential in tackling drugs and driving, in alcohol-related accidents, and in measuring fatigue-impaired performance.

How does it work?
Everyone has a predictable, inherited pupil response when exposed to light. This response deteriorates with use of drugs and alcohol, due to dilation or nystagmus of the pupil. The Eyecheck pupillometer measures this response by scanning the pupil 10 times a second to an accuracy of 100th of a millimetre. The data is then analysed using the Eyecheck computer programme in a PC or laptop.

What drugs can be detected?
Because Eyecheck detects the impairment, not the drug, it can find absolutely everything that will affect performance, including all the illegal and psychotropic drugs auch as LSD. It will also detect impairment from certain prescribed drugs that affect performance, such as all the tranquilizing drugs.

What drugs cannot be detected?
Eyecheck only measures impairment, so if the effects of the drug have worn off, their earlier use won’t be detected. That is actually an advantage - in fact Eyecheck is invaluable in drugs and driving cases because it only gives a positive result when the driver is actually impaired.

What are its other advantages?
Eyecheck is non-invasive and does not require a sample to be collected.
It costs nothing to operate, so once the capital cost has been spent it is perfect for mass screening - for example prisoners returning from home leave, on safety critical sites, police checks on drivers, in fact anywhere that requires large volumes of tests to be carried out as a routine screening exercise.
