About Covid-19 & Influenza
Covid‑19 and influenza present with similar respiratory symptoms. Combination testing supports faster differentiation, helping guide treatment and infection control pathways.
The most common symptoms associated with COVID-19 are fever, tiredness and a dry cough. However, symptoms can take up to 14 days to appear, so it is difficult to know if someone has been infected ahead of these conditions appearing. In the meantime, infected people can spread the virus unknowingly. For this reason, rapid testing is used as an accurate and cost-effective way to quickly and efficiently detect both symptomatic and asymptomatic cases and help suppress the spread of the virus.
What does the SARS‑CoV‑2 + Flu A/B combo test detect?
The test detects SARS‑CoV‑2 (COVID-19), Influenza A and Influenza B antigens in nasal swab specimens. These antigens are associated with acute respiratory viral infections.
How is combination respiratory testing used in practice?
Combination testing is used as a screening tool to support early differentiation between Covid‑19 and influenza infections in individuals with respiratory symptoms.
Are the results diagnostic?
No. This test provides a screening result only. Results should be interpreted alongside clinical assessment and, where appropriate, confirmed using molecular or laboratory‑based methods.
What sample type is required for this test?
The test uses a nasal swab specimen, collected and processed using the supplied extraction materials.
What does a positive result indicate?
A positive result indicates the detection of SARS‑CoV‑2, Influenza A or Influenza B antigen, depending on which test line appears. It does not distinguish between severity or stage of infection.
Who is this test intended for?
The SARS‑CoV‑2 + Influenza A/B Antigen Combo Rapid Test is intended for professional use in clinical and healthcare screening environments as part of a broader respiratory infection assessment pathway.
