About Drink Spiking
Drink spiking involves adding substances to a person's drink without their knowledge. GHB, ketamine and benzodiazepines are among the substances most commonly associated with drink spiking due to their sedative, amnesiac or incapacitating effects. Rapid detection supports personal safety in social environments.
What is the DrinkSpike test?
DrinkSpike is a rapid 3 panel dip card test designed to screen drinks for substances commonly associated with drink spiking; GHB, ketamine and benzodiazepines within 5 minutes.
What types of drinks can be tested?
DrinkSpike can be used with a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. If the GHB reaction pad appears purple before testing, the test is invalid. Do not use.
How quickly are results available?
BZO and KET results are read at 5 minutes. The GHB colour change pad is also read at 5 minutes. No result should be interpreted after 10 minutes.
Does a negative result guarantee the drink is safe?
No. DrinkSpike screens for three specific substances. It cannot detect all drugs or substances that may be added to a drink. A negative result reduces but does not eliminate risk. If you have concerns about a drink, do not consume it and seek help.
Where is DrinkSpike most commonly used?
DrinkSpike is designed for use in bars, nightclubs, universities, music events, festivals and anywhere personal safety in social environments is a priority.
