Rapid, portable surface drug test for detecting trace drug residues from powders or surfaces, with results in 5 minutes
DrugTrace is a non-invasive, surface-based drug residue detection test that screens for 8 drug classes from swabbed surfaces or dissolved powder samples. No biological specimen is required from individuals.
The 8 panel test simultaneously detects amphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, ketamine, MDMA, methamphetamine, opiates and cannabis from a single surface swab and buffer solution.
Results are available in 5 minutes. DrugTrace is designed for prisons, probation services, workplaces, border control, law enforcement and any setting where surface contamination monitoring or non-invasive drug detection is required.
Please refer to the references page for information on drug parameters and cut‑off levels.
Product and testing parameters
Key benefits
Non-invasive surface testing detects drug residues without requiring biological samples
Up to 8 panel simultaneous screening
Rapid 5 minute results for fast, on-site decision-making
Portable, instrument-free design - no laboratory or specialist equipment required
High sensitivity for trace-level detection of drug residues from surfaces, powders and dust
Cost-effective preliminary screening tool to support and reduce reliance on laboratory analysis
About Surface Drug Testing
Surface drug testing detects trace quantities of drug residues on objects, surfaces or powders. It does not require biological samples from individuals and provides rapid on-site results. It is used as a screening tool in custodial, workplace and law enforcement environments. Non-negative results require confirmation.
What is DrugTrace?
DrugTrace is a rapid 8 panel surface drug test that screens for drug residues on surfaces or in dissolved powder samples without requiring biological specimens from individuals.
Which drugs does DrugTrace detect?
The 8-panel configuration detects AMP (50 ng/mL), COC (50 ng/mL), FYL (200 ng/mL), KET (50 ng/mL), MDMA (50 ng/mL), MET (100 ng/mL), MOP (30 ng/mL) and THC (15 ng/mL) from surface swab samples.
Where is DrugTrace used?
DrugTrace is used in prisons, correctional facilities, probation services, workplaces, border control, law enforcement and forensic investigation environments where surface contamination monitoring is needed.
How does DrugTrace work?
A surface is swabbed using the supplied collector. Buffer is applied and the swab is inserted into the test cassette. Residue drug compounds bind to labelled antibodies in the test, generating a visual line result in 5 minutes.
Does a non-negative surface result prove drug use?
o. A non-negative surface test result indicates the presence of drug residues on a surface. It cannot determine who handled the substance, when exposure occurred, or confirm individual drug use. Surface results should be considered alongside other evidence.
Is DrugTrace suitable for use in prisons?
Yes. DrugTrace is specifically designed for prison and custodial environments as a non-invasive way to screen for drug contamination of surfaces, furniture, mail and personal items.
