7 parameter urine validity strips for detecting specimen tampering and substitution
Adulteration Strips are rapid test strips that simultaneously assess 7 specimen validity parameters from a single urine dip, helping to identify samples that may have been tampered with, diluted or substituted. Parameters include pH, creatinine, nitrites, bleach, glutaraldehyde, PCC (pyridinium chlorochromate) and specific gravity.
Detecting adulterated specimens is a critical quality control step in drug testing programmes, particularly in workplace and forensic settings where the integrity of results must be assured. Strips deliver clear colour-change results immediately after dipping, with no additional equipment required.

About Specimen Validity Testing
Specimen validity testing (SVT) is the process of assessing whether a urine specimen is consistent with normal human urine and free from added adulterants. Parameters including pH, creatinine, specific gravity and common adulterant chemicals are assessed. SVT is a recommended component of workplace drug testing programmes.
What do adulteration strips test for?
Adulteration strips simultaneously test 7 urine validity parameters: pH, creatinine, nitrites, bleach, glutaraldehyde, PCC and specific gravity.
When should adulteration testing be used?
Adulteration testing should be performed on every urine specimen collected for drug testing, as part of the standard collection procedure. It is particularly important in workplace and forensic programmes where specimen integrity is critical.
What does each parameter indicate?
pH and specific gravity indicate dilution or substitution. Creatinine confirms the specimen is consistent with human urine. Nitrites, bleach, glutaraldehyde and PCC indicate the addition of common adulterant chemicals.
What should I do if adulteration is detected?
If adulteration is indicated, refer to your organisation's drug and alcohol policy. It is generally recommended not to report drug test results from an adulterated specimen. A new collection should be arranged under direct observation.
Do adulteration strips give a quantitative result?
Adulteration strips provide semi-quantitative or qualitative colour-change results. pH and creatinine provide approximate values; other parameters indicate presence or absence above a threshold. For precise quantitative values, laboratory analysis is required.
